Laser (Long Pulsed Nd:YAG)

What is Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser?

This is a subtype of Nd:YAG laser that penetrates deep into the skin and is readily absorbed by hemoglobin and melanin. By creating a variable long pulse duration and an appropriate spot size, it is possible to heat deep skin tissues, such as hair follicles, blood vessels and collagen.

What are the benefits of Long Pulsed ND:YAG Laser?

Our Fotona SP Dynamis delivers laser energy in various pulse durations that makes it a versatile laser that can destroy hair follicles for hair reduction, treat deeper vascular lesions such as telangiectasias, hemangiomas and leg veins. The bulk heating of the same laser could promote collagen production as well as induce adipocyte apoptosis (death of fat cells) when adequate energy is delivered to the fat area.

How is Long Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser performed?

Most patients will feel a warm sensation during the procedure. For vein removal, a prickly sensation might be felt. Cold air is usually applied for comfort as well as protection of the skin surface.

Are there any downtime/ side effects?

The procedure is safe. Possible mild swelling and redness that should resolve after 30 minutes. More obvious localized redness lasting a few days may occur with intensive treatments. Most patients can resume their daily routine immediately after the treatment.
